چکیده
Objective To evaluate the effect of aging in a hard denture reline (New Truliner) and an acrylic resin (Classic) after chemical and mechanical polishing. Methods Eighty specimens were made, divided randomly between 8 groups: G1.Acrylic Resin Classic (RAC)/Mechanical Polishing (PM); G2.RAC/PM + thermocycling (TR); G3) RAC/Chemical Polishing (PQ); G4.RAC/PQ + TR; G5.New Truliner (NT)/PM; G6.NT/PM + TR; G7. NT/PQ; G8.NT/PQ + TR. The surface hardness was measured before and after polishing, and after TR. The impact resistance tests were measured after all applied treatments. The data were submitted to ANOVA and Tukey test (α=5%). Results Regardless of the polishing, it was noted that RAC presented significantly higher surface hardness than NT; PM had higher hardness in both materials compared with PQ; on both polishing, the impact resistance of the RAC was higher than NT. Independently of TR test, the impact resistance of the materials that received PQ was higher than received PM. The PQ caused greater changes in properties than the PM. Conclusion Aging and chemical and mechanical polishing influenced the physical and mechanical properties of hard denture reline and acrylic resin. Indexing terms: Acrylic resins. Aging. Denture liners. Hardness.

Effect of Thermocycling and Polyethylene Fibre Addition on Impact and Transversal Strength of Heat Cured Acrylic Resin Denture Base Material
Background: Heat cured acrylic resin is the most widely used material in the manufacture ofdenture base, but has mechanical properties weakness (transversal strength and impact strength). Alternative to increase the mechanical properties of acrylic resin is the utilization of reinforcing fibre that is polyethylene fibre that has advantage such as good aesthetic, easy to manipulate and increase ...

Objectives Acrylic resins are one of the most important denture base materials in dentistry due to their favourable mechanical and physical properties. The purpose of present study is to compare 4 available acrylic flexural strength properties before and after thermocycling. Methods Acrylic resin specimens of Meliodent (Heraeus Kulzer, Hanau, Germany), Vertex (Vertex-dental BV, Zeist, Netherla...

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of mechanical polishing (MP) and chemical polishing (CP) on the average surface roughness (Ra) of heat-cured (HC) and light-cured (LC) denture base acrylic resins. METHODS A total of 120 specimens (30 × 15 × 3 mm) were prepared from one HC and one LC acrylic resin. To remove nodules and gross surface irregularities, all specimens ...
متن کاملThe influence of polishing techniques on pre-polymerized CAD\CAM acrylic resin denture bases
Background Lately, computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) has broadly been successfully employed in dentistry. The CAD/CAM systems have recently become commercially available for fabrication of complete dentures, and are considered as an alternative technique to conventionally processed acrylic resin bases. However, they have not yet been fully investigated. Objectiv...
